Hokay, so I haven't updated in freaking forever, and I originally intended to just write this for my Dickinson blog, but I feel it needs a little more CAPSLOCK AND SWEARING than I"m willing to give it there.

(I also can't be arsed to resize the pictures, so beware.)

Okay, so this is mostly for my own purposes, and so I can badger clever_hobbit, because I'll certainly forget by the time Sims Sunday rolls around, and this was too crackalicious not to share.

I need help.Collapse )

Well, my application to Rome is in. Now all I can do is wait. argh.

I bought fabric for my Halloween costume today. It'll be a Victorian-ish (no claims to historical accuracy here) dress in the sort of coppery burnt orange color I love so much, plus a rather insane print I thought fitted well. I'm excited to start sewing it, but not so excited about cutting everything out.

This weekend has been delightfully nonacademic, though this evening I'll have to study, being as I have two tests tomorrow. Ah well. Eat, drink, and be merry, I suppose, for tomorrow...

Edit: Why in God's name don't I have a Roma-jii icon by now? Must fix that posthaste!
Moved back in on Saturday for my third (AUGH) year of college. We're in a different building now, which is still weird, but I think I'll adjust to that eventually. The missing people are a lot harder to adapt to, though. It feels a lot more subdued.

I've had all my classes now, and I'm excited for this year. Still not quite sure what to make of History of the English Language (or HEL, as our professor calls it), and Latin contains higher-than-usual levels of terror, but I've embraced my masochism in that regard. I've got friends in most of my classes, which is a bit of a new experience, what with the classics-blitzkrieg of previous years and all.

Also also! Apparently I have a job interning with the classics department this semester! And I can do both swing and karate, because they're not at the same time!

...I think I've used up my excitement quota. But my application for Rome is underway.

We had a dinner party of SUCK yesterday, by which I mean my father made me cook a nice meal and socialize with people I don't know, who turned out to be uber-catholic. FUNTIMES.

I'm home again, and have been for a few days. Bleeeeh. There's a lot of work that needs to be done around the house, which is of course my responsibility, but at least I'm almost all unpacked. Hardcore sewing needs to happen this summer, since I have SO VERY MUCH fabric I need to get rid of, and also Otakon things. Those are necessary.

My old high school's Cabaret performance was last night. It wasn't quite as good as last year's, but it was still a lot of fun. There are fewer and fewer people I recognize in it, though. :(

In other news, Bleach has nommed my brain almost completely, and I can't quite bring myself to hate it for that.

So, yeah. Our archaeology class went on a trip yesterday afternoon to a state park nearby to look at stratigraphy and the sediments that had filled in behind a dam that had been in the area until about 25 years ago. It was the hottest day we'd had all year, so I was expecting to hate myself and everyone around me for three hours, but it was excellent, honestly, despite the face-planting and the thornbushes. The riding back to college soaked to the waist was my own damn fault, but wading through the river was absolutely lovely, and I didn't lose my cell phone like I thought I might. Maybe I should bring people back there.

Also, have never seen a natural spring before (which is probably what that was, though the geology professor with us wasn't quite sure...?). And no sunburn. It was a good day.

Wow, I haven't been on here in forever, though I have finally been doing things elsewhere on livejournal and not being a total failureface at that. I just don't really have anything to say about myself. I thought I'd post, though, because I've been quasi-active elsewhere.

In other news, still love Latin and Greek, even though they hurt me so and I've been avoiding them all weekend.

Oh dear

While packing, I realized that the stationery I want to take with me (not all of my stationery, mind) fills one reusable grocery bag brim-full. I don't have a problem, I swear...
